Having worked on many South Lanarkshire Council assisted living facility environmental improvement contracts, the one I am most proud of is Eastcroft, Rutherglen.
Through the initial feasibility study for the property, I prepared concept designs which enabled the Client and residents to review and comment on proposals. This lead to the preparation of technical design drawings to transform the dated and unsuitable spaces into safe and attractive private and community areas to combine the overall development and provide safe pedestrian access for all residents.
From the pre-construction phase, as Principal Designer I assisted the Contract Administrator and worked closely with the Client and QS to ensure construction ran smoothly and within budget. This included on-site design team meetings, responding to Design Queries from site, and advising the Client Representative through Contractor variances with the issuance of Architect’s Instructions.
Close coordination, good communication and regular inspection and certification allowed successful completion of works. A “Before & After” document prepared for the Client on final certification showed the extent of the transformation.
Most importantly the Client and residents were thrilled with the result.
